Today we’re using our Inside Voices to talk about 4 New Free Online Resources at the Library!

Something for Everybody!

In addition to lending great books, movies, games, etc., the Petawawa Public Library provides free access to a wide range of Online Resources for all ages. These include eBooks, audiobooks, video streaming, language learning, plus much more.

Now, as the new year begins, we have added 4 new ways to use the Library from home.

#1
Enjoy magazines on Libby

Perhaps you already enjoy reading eBooks and listening to audiobooks on OverDrive and on the Libby app.

Now you can read over 3000 online magazines from around the world too!

If you’re not familiar with the Libby app, this is a great time to start. Just download Libby to your favourite device from your app store. You will need your library card number and PIN to set up your account and then you’ll be ready to explore all the magazines available. Cooking, sports, celebrity, gardening, travel and finance are just a small sample of the topics covered.

#2
Find trusted health information with Consumer Health Complete

Packed with a wealth of health information, Consumer Health Complete allows you to search by topic, consult a medical dictionary, and browse a variety of health and wellness publications. If you have a medical question, log in with your library card number and you should find your answer here.

#3 and #4
Look up reliable information on World Book Online and Britannica Library Online

If you’re working on a school project or paper, or just feeling curious about the world around us, you’ll find what you need by using your library card number to log on to one of these sites. Get answers to your questions and make new discoveries by consulting the wide range of articles, images and videos available. You can even choose appropriate levels for children and teens/young adults.

How to get started!

You’ll need a computer or mobile device with access to the Internet so you can click on any of the links above. For Libby, be sure to have your Library card number and PIN on hand. If you don’t know your PIN, visit the Library with your card and we’ll provide it to you. For the rest, your Library Card number alone will let you log in.
