Teen Volunteers

We are now accepting Fall of 2022 applications for student volunteers. Please note that we are currently at student volunteer capacity for the summer. Thank you for your interest and we look forward to meeting you in the fall. Any applications submitted over the summer will be contacted in late August.

Teen volunteers at the Petawawa Public Library help with shelf-reading, reading buddies, craft cutting, helping with special events and programming. Fill out the application form to get started.

Here is a short description of the different jobs we have:

Reading Buddies: This position is responsible for providing children with literacy skills through our 10-week Reading Buddies Program. Library staff will match the volunteer with an elementary school-aged child. The volunteer and child will meet for one hour per week in the library to read and play literacy-based games together.

Shelf Reader: This position is responsible for organizing the bookshelves in the children’s department.

Program Assistant: This position is responsible for assisting special programs that run throughout the academic year. 

Craft Cutter: This volunteer position is responsible for assisting the Children’s and Teen Services Technician and occasionally the Youth Programming Technician prepare crafts for upcoming programs and events.

Summer Volunteer: This volunteer position is responsible for assisting staff run children’s programs run throughout the summer. This position requires a 4-week commitment.
